Throughput Analytics Foundations

A six-week path through the Data Visualization and Analytics Platform for Manufacturing Throughput Analysis skills we expect every CI and planning teammate to share.

Learning outcomes

  • Map cycle time and WIP age from imperfect exports without pretending the data is pristine.
  • Design a briefing board that opens on the active constraint.
  • Separate OEE components so averages cannot hide scrap or changeover loss.
  • Run a five-minute shift handover with a named experiment.
  • Apply freshness stamps and legend rules suitable for Malaysian multi-shift plants.

Modules

Week 1 — Flow vocabulary

Constraint, buffer, and throughput definitions tied to a single cell walkthrough.

Week 2 — Export hygiene

Cleaning timestamps, handling missing codes, and documenting assumptions for auditors.

Week 3 — WIP heat maps

Build aging visuals that survive canteen TVs and fluorescent glare.

Week 4 — OEE without vanity

Split availability, performance, and quality; practice challenging misleading rollups.

Week 5 — Briefing boards

Compose the plant landing view and rehearse a live critique.

Week 6 — Mentor review

Submit your board, receive scored feedback, and plan the first 30 days back on site.

FAQ

Do I need advanced SQL?

No. Spreadsheet fluency is enough for the exercises. We show optional SQL snippets for teams that already warehouse data.

Will this configure our software stack?

No — and that is a real limitation. We teach platform evaluation and visualization craft; we do not implement vendor tools or connect to your MES under this course fee.

Can my whole shift join?

Yes. Network Lens pricing covers up to eight seats with a private schedule. Contact us for dates.

Reviews from this course

The week-three WIP heat map replaced our sticky-note wall. I still think week two on export hygiene deserved an extra lab.

Amira’s mentor review caught a misleading rolling average I was about to present to directors.
